Susan Mains
Artist and Art Educator
St George's, Grenada
Susan Mains grew up in Grenada, and has made the Caribbean her home. An educator by training, her passion for art grew from the desire to express the beauty and complexity of the Caribbean in its own context and voice. Her “self inflicted” art education began when she was living in Dominica in the “80s, and has continued in an ever expanding role of artist, art activist, and art educator.
Her broad, painterly, style is easily accessible and has been widely exhibited and collected both in the Caribbean and Internationally. Committed to community, she has been involved with various art groups in Grenada for more than 15 years. Her research has led to several papers that have been presented in conferences in Grenada, Austria, Australia, Scotland, and most recently, at the 4th International Conference of the Society of Arts and Culture during the Biennale in Venice, Italy.
Susan teaches studio art in the fledgling Fine Arts Program at St. George’s University in Grenada.
